Gratitude Meditation

Gratitude Meditation

By Sneha Raichada

During this Thanksgiving season, let's take a moment to reflect on all the blessings in our lives. It's a time to gather with loved ones, share delicious meals, and express our gratitude for all that we have.

Join me in this short 10-minute gratitude meditation. We will go through a simple practice that will help you connect with those people and situations for which you are grateful. This meditation is a wonderful way to bring more joy and positivity into your life.

Namaste. Thank you for joining this meditation session. This session is a meditation on gratitude.

Before we begin, find a comfortable position. This position may be seated on the floor, cross-legged, maybe seated in a chair, or may even be laying down. You can end your yoga routine with this meditation. You can do this in the middle of the day when you just want to get away from everything and bring in more energy, vibrance, and gratitude within the being.

Or you can even do this before going to bed and sharing this energy with the world.

Feel free to pause so you can get into a comfortable position of your choosing.

Once you've chosen your position, remove any glasses if you're wearing glasses and relax the hands. In this meditation of gratitude, I recommend keeping the palms open in more of an accepting energy and giving energy. So palms can be facing up, just relaxed, either by your side or on your legs. Close your eyes and begin by bringing awareness to the breath.

Follow the breath in through the nose and follow the breath out through the nose. You're just becoming aware. There's no control. There's no judgments.

Bring your attention to your heart center. Relax the upper chest and heart. Relax the shoulders and arms. Let them fall away from the ears. Let them become heavy.

Imagine a beautiful, bright, light in the center of the heart. Fill this light with love. Fill this light with compassion. Fill this light with kindness and care.

Bring into your awareness one person that you want to express gratitude towards. Bring them to the center of the heart, into the center of this light, give them a hug, say to them, I am grateful for you. I am thankful for you. I appreciate you.

Bring into your awareness, another person, place them in your heart center and in the center of this light. Give them a big hug and say to them, I am grateful for you. I am thankful for you. I appreciate you.

Bring the palms together in front of the heart center into prayer hands. Bow down to your heart center. Bow down to that light. That holds love, compassion, kindness, and care. And know that this always exists within you. And you can choose to express this in any moment, in any time. And in every moment and every time, take a deep breath in and a deep exhalation and a deep breath in and let the arms come overhead and stretch and a deep breath out and let the arms come back down and slowly when you're ready. You can open your eyes and know that you can do this gratitude meditation at any time with anyone and it can be shared with your most loving family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, our pets.

Everyone deserves gratitude.

Namaste.
