I am so very grateful to all the team at Ayurprana for all the support during the cleanse. I thank all of you, the practitioners, yoga teachers, tech support and behind the scene helpers. I appreciate the incredible amount of work you all do. Every morning it was so interesting and such fun learning from Mitesh, Sneha and Alex. So much knowledge and wisdom transmitted with positivity, gentleness and humor in just one hour. I had been a bit apprehensive about the cleanse as I live in Costa Rica, not coming out of winter like you guys but still in the hot, dry season and dealing with heat all year round practically. Alex, my practitioner, was so attentive and the cleanse was completely personalized and adapted to my needs. I have learnt so much about myself and Ayurveda. It is truly an exciting journey and so well accompanied with you all. Look forward to the next cleanse. Warm regards :))

The Ayurvedic Approach to Cleansing:
The traditional Ayurvedic cleanse aims to eliminate these accumulated toxins and energies from the body. Before these toxins can be expelled, we must first kindle the digestive fire - we do this to make sure our body has the capacity to “digest” and burn the toxins that get released from the deeper tissues during the cleansing process.
A guide to the Doshas:
- Vata
- Pitta
- Kapha
Vata
The fall/autumn period and early winter season is associated with Vata dosha, which is predominantly composed of the elements ether (space) and air. We see these elements manifest in the light, dry, cold, rough, mobile, and clear qualities of autumn and early winter: the crunchy roughness of the turning leaves, the chilly crispness of the wind. As these qualities increase around us, so do they increase within us - constipation, gas, bloating, cold hands and feet, low back pain, cramping during menses, cracking and popping joints, insomnia, as well as feelings of anxiety, insecurity, fear or loneliness are all signs of elevated Vata dosha.
Pitta
Summer is the season of Pitta dosha - primarily fire and water elements, it’s the principle of transformation and metabolism. Pitta is hot, sharp, light, liquid, spreading, slightly oily, and has a fleshy smell. Common signs of elevated pitta are anything heat related - burning sensations, inflammation, skin concerns involving redness, itchiness, loose stools, heartburn, waking in the middle of the night, as well as pitta type emotions of anger, irritation, judgment and criticism of self and/or others.
Kapha
Kapha dosha, which is predominantly earth and water elements, is the principle of cohesion and the building block material - it’s stable, cool, oily, heavy, dull, liquid, slimy, sticky, cloudy, and dense. It’s associated with both late winter and spring. Kapha is responsible for cold, cough, and congestion, water retention, weight gain, as well as the emotions of attachment, greed, and grief.
What our Ayurvedic cleanse entails:
1.
Pre-cleanse: In addition to beginning to kindle our digestive fire, we slowly wean ourselves off of gluten, dairy, alcohol, meat, caffeine, and processed foods and sugars the week before the cleanse. This gradually eases us into the detoxification process, which generally reduces common cleansing symptoms like fatigue, headaches, and general aches and pains.
2.
Internal and External Oleation: The first few days of the cleanse we take ghee, or clarified butter, on an empty stomach in the morning. Ghee has a magical effect of penetrating the deeper tissues of the body, helping to loosen the sticky toxins lodged there. To support these toxins moving into the GI tract, so they can be expelled from the body, we encourage a daily self massage with warm oil (called abhyanga) where our movements direct the released ama toward the center of the body.
3.
Purgation: Once the toxins have been brought back to the GI tract, they are ready to be purged. One method for purgation is taking a small amount of castor oil - a strong laxative that serves to empty the intestines and bowels of these accumulated toxins.
4.
Basti: After resting post-purgation, it’s time for a sequence of herbal tea enemas to support in cleansing any residual toxins from the system as well as nourishing the colon.
5.
Transition: Preserve your hard work of the last 16 days by slowly reintroducing your normal diet. This is also the period of rejuvenation where we rebuild the deeper tissues.

Frequently Asked Questions
How will I access the cleanse content?
The cleanse content will be available on ayurpranaplus.com as well as our AyurPrana+ mobile application. You will receive detailed instructions on how to access both learning platforms after you register for the cleanse. Please note that the community portion of our offering will only be available in the AyurPrana+ mobile app.
How much time do I need to set aside for the cleanse?
This is a thorough and in-depth, traditional Ayurvedic cleanse. The processes themselves will take roughly 1-1.5 hours a day on average, in addition to the Live sessions with our health coaches. Certain days, such as the enema days, may take an additional half-hour or so more.
Can I do this while I work or work from home?
We do recommend that you do your best to clear your calendar and schedule as the cleansing process naturally can lead to a temporary period of fatigue and some mild discomfort, which then resolves as the body is rebuilt and rejuvenated. Each body is different and responds differently. Conserving as much of your energy as possible for the cleansing process will best serve you.
What can I expect to feel like during the cleanse?
There are different phases during the cleanse, each with different experiences, discomforts, and feelings of relief. You will experience ups and downs in energy, mood, maybe even occasional nausea, as the cleansing process occurs. Each body is different and responds differently.
I have a strict diet, will I be able to do the monotrophic (MONO) diet?
The mono diet involves a kitchari (mix of mung daal and basmati rice) diet. We provide guidance of modifications for specific diets. The mono diet is a very simple and easy-to-digest diet, which allows the digestive fire to rest and reset. This is crucial to the cleansing process.
What if I am on an herbal protocol or am taking medications?
We always recommend you consult with your primary care provider before making any changes to your health care plan or adding any supplements to your plan.
Can I continue my normal exercise routine or bodywork treatments during the cleanse?
The cleanse process takes a significant amount of energy and processing. We therefore recommend following our AyurYoga program as provided during the cleanse or very light body movement. For the same reason, we recommend stopping bodywork during a cleanse.
What if I can’t make the Live session? Will there be a replay?
We absolutely anticipate that not everyone can make it at the time we are playing the Live session. All sessions will be recorded and available for viewing on our AyurPrana+ learning platform within 48-72 hours after the session. Please note that access to cleanse materials closes 30 days after the last live session.
Are you providing consultations as part of this cleanse?
We are not providing individual consultations. Our goal is to empower you with all the material and education you need to complete a cleanse. Our staff will be available 24 hours a day to answer questions and provide additional guidance and education through our private community group.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations will be honored up to 72 hours prior to the start of the Ayurvedic Home Cleanse.
Please contact care@liveayurprana.com to submit a request for cancellation.
