WHAT IS AYURYOGA?
Developed by Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, founder and director of The Ayurvedic Institute, Ayuryoga frames the practices and flows of Yoga within the broader system of Ayurveda.
Learn how asana (poses) and flows can affect your unique constitution (dosha) and better support yourself with a yoga practice that speaks to the core of you, helping you maintain balance day-to-day, season-to-season!
Hear about it from Vasant Lad himself:

LEARN TO BALANCE YOUR BEING
In Ayurveda, we believe that each living being is composed of the five elements - space, air, fire, water, and earth. These are the building blocks and energies powering all life on earth. While these elements unite all of us, they come together in the 3 mind-body or constitution types - the Doshas.
The 3 Doshas are mind-body or constitution types, and in Ayurveda, are each characterized by their combination of elements:
Vata Dosha
is made up of space and air
Pitta Dosha
is a combination of fire and water
Kapha Dosha
is composed of water and earth
These doshas, and their unique combination are within each of us and give rise to the various characteristics in our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual selves that make-up who we are.
The way we move through life - how we experience our thoughts and feelings, what we eat and when we eat at different times of the day, the changing seasons, traveling or moving to new places, the different stages of life or even the way we breathe - can affect our doshas in different ways and in this, our doshas can come out of balance.
Our wellness springs from equanimity between the 3 doshas and one of the best methods available to us for aiding in the balance of our doshas is the asana (poses), movement, and breath involved in Yoga.
We will look at each dosha specifically. To help balance Vata we will look at asana and sequences for building stability, foundation, grounding, stability. To help balance Pitta we will look to aid in purification, cleansing, clearing and calming. To help Kapha to remain in balance we will look to build energy, vitality, vigor, and stamina.
