Channeling the Moon: Evening Salutation Yoga Immersion
The lesser known of the salutation flows, the Chandra (Moon) Namaskar (Salutation) is designed to bring us into harmony with this heavenly body that watches over all beings on this planet as we rest and fall into the subtle realm of dreams.
From the Ayurvedic perspective, we will look at Chandra Namaskar in relation to harmony of self and how this sequence can help to balance ourselves - shifting our emotional and mental states so we can get the most from our night of rest.
Join us for 6 LIVE sessions at 10:30am MST from April 4 - 16, 2022 with bonus recorded sessions plus a LIVE yoga Q&A with Vasant Lad, Founder and Director of The Ayurvedic Institute! Learn to Channel the Moon!
The moon has a large role to play in our wellness and in the system of Ayurveda as a whole. Deepening this connection only helps us come into a deeper understanding and harmony with the world around us.
In Sanskrit, Namaskar is the more reverent version of Namaste and has the same root word, Namas, which translates best to “bowing” or “homage.” The Chandra Namaskar sequence performs a different role in our bodies - here our homage is to the waxing and the waning, the drawer of our waters, the mental and emotional forces that guide our actions and experiences - the glorious moon.
Just as Surya Namaskar is an ancient sequence of asana (poses) that invokes the physical nature of the sun, the asanas in the Chandra Namaskar channel the subtle attributes of our emotional and mental self. Just as Surya Namaskar prepares us for the day of action, Chandra Namaskar prepares us for the night of rest.
The version of Chandra Namaskar that you will be introduced to has been taught by Vasant Lad, Founder and Director of the Ayurvedic Institute, a teacher and mentor to both our immersion instructors Nishita Shah and Dave Yoss. The focus of this immersion is to come into a deeper understanding of this particular sequence by building stamina and strength in the asana themselves, while growing comfortable practicing Chandra Namaskar as a regular routine.
In this immersion you will also begin to develop your own daily practice, with us. In this way the Chandra Namaskar sequence can support you each evening, throughout 2022 and beyond!
Whether you see yourself as a beginner in your yoga journey or spend hours on your mat every day, this immersion will allow you to refine and deepen your own personal connection to your body, your life force, and your Chandra Namaskar practice!
Come honor the moon with us!
