IMMERSION

Liberating The Body: Developing a movement routine that serves you

March 6-17, 2023 | 10:30 - 11:30 am (ET)

WITH
Mitesh Raichada, CAP and Nishita Shah, CAP, ERYT-500, C-IAYT

Movement is so much more than just exercise. It’s a key factor in supporting the healthy flow of prana - a Sanskrit term meaning "vital life force" - within our bodies, minds, and spirit. With intentional movement we can improve this flow of energy and nourish ourselves in the process.

In this 2 week immersion you will work with a group of Ayurvedic coaches, yoga teachers, and other specialists to learn how to craft a MOVE practice that serves YOU. We are all uniquely different - so this is not a prescriptive course, but an exploration designed to help you re-establish a healthy metabolism and digestive capacity, finding hormonal balance, and discovering joy in the flow of breath and movement.

The classical Ayurvedic texts define proper health as the harmony and balance of mind, body, and spirit. Come explore the fundamentals of beneficial movement from an Ayurvedic perspective - shifting our conception of exertion to consider what is appropriate movement? Ayurveda teaches us that like increases like, and opposites balance each other. This same concept can be applied to our movement, and we can use this insight to support ourselves moment to moment with what we need.

After this 14-day MOVE Immersion you will be equipped with daily movement practices that support healthy prana and will enable you to find a deeper connection between the physical and subtle layers of your being - supporting harmony in your mind, body, and spirit.

Topics we will cover in this immersive course

Join Mitesh Raichada, CAP, AyurPrana Founder and Senior Faculty at The Ayurvedic Institute, and Nishita Shah, CAP, ERYT-500, C-IAYT, Lead Ayuryoga Faculty at The Ayurvedic Institute, and as they guide you through an experiential process of how to develop a movement practice that serves your being.

Both Mitesh and Nishita are long-time students of internationally-renowned Ayurvedic physician and visionary Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, and have spent many years supporting students and clients along their personal healing journey.

This immersion forms part of our 7 Pillars - a Wellness Formula that serves youl in developing rewarding practices that fit a modern lifestyle and support improved health & wellbeing day after day. Read on for more details.

Course Structure:

This course is very practical in nature - with live daily practice during the week, videos and supporting content for evening and weekends, and 3 Deep Learning Sessions with demonstrative practices that will help to get you in the right mindset - understanding the Ayurvedic philosophy and practice that underpin what we will be exploring together in the rest of the immersion.

Lesson 1: Introduction to MOVE - where we will explore:

  • What is prana (life force)?
  • Fundamentals of prana and how it manifests in our day to day
  • The purpose of prana circulation and signs of obstruction
  • The 5 Koshas

Lesson 2: Ayurveda’s perspective on exercise - a deep dive that will include:

  • What is right movement? And what does right mean for person to person
  • Benefits of Movement according to Ayurveda
  • Exploring exercises examples and tying them back to Ayurvedic insights around physical exercise
  • Connection of these exercises to prana→ breath & movement

Lesson 3: The Foundation of the MOVE Pillar - where we bring it all together by looking at:

  • The benefits of Mindful/Conscious movement
  • The Movement and the Why?
  • Yoga
  • Pranayama (breath work)
  • Walking
  • Other forms of exercise

How the immersion will work:

We will meet live for 1 hour Monday through Friday for 14 days - with videos to support you in the evenings and over weekends so you don’t lose a day!

The 3 Deep Learning Sessions will be interspersed throughout the immersion at key points where this information will support you in your exploration of prana, breath, and appropriate movement.

Each day, in community, we will build on the previous day's learnings, insights, and practice - so that by the end of our 2 weeks together you have been introduced to a range of movement practices - with insight around the benefits and energetics of each - so you can enjoy a daily movement routine that serves your body, meets the seasons, honors your time of life, and nourishes your being.

Prana - the life force in the breath

Prana, in Sanskrit means "vital life force". In Ayurveda we believe breath is life, that we are buoyed by the breath, one after the other, through our life. It’s our anchor to the present moment. Ayurveda is about coming to know ourSelves. When we learn how to read into ourselves and balance our prana we can begin to experience our highest and greatest potential.

Mind the breath

Mindful nose breathing allows you to tap into a meditative alpha state, increase your endurance, and help you experience union between all the aspects of your being. In this immersion we will explore harmonizing movement, breathing, and awareness - this is one of the methods we can use to bring ourselves into an elevated state of consciousness.

The numerous benefits of movement

Movement supports the body’s process of detoxification - kindling agni (the digestive fire mentioned in the Nutrition Pillar) while improving digestion, circulation, elimination, and lymphatic flow.

Movement also stimulates and activates the natural pathways of rejuvenation by helping release accumulated tension, clearing stagnant mental and emotional energy, improving our ability to relax, and supporting sound sleep.

Experience the benefits of Ayuryoga™

Developed by Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, for his students at The Ayurvedic Institute, Ayuryoga™ reaches deep into the traditions of both Yoga and Ayurveda - reuniting these ancient wellness practices. Come explore the basics of Ayuryoga in this MOVE immersion!
